How to Play Teen Patti: Rules and Hand Rankings

The aim of the game

Each hand gets three cards. Your goal is to bet on the hand you think is stronger, or to hold the stronger hand yourself in versions where you play against the dealer. When the cards are shown, the hand with the higher ranking wins.

Teen Patti hand rankings (strongest first)

• Trail (trio): three cards of the same rank, for example three kings. Three aces is the best hand.
• Pure sequence (straight flush): three cards in a row in the same suit, such as 4, 5 and 6 of hearts.
• Sequence (straight): three cards in a row in mixed suits.
• Colour (flush): three cards of the same suit that are not in a row.
• Pair: two cards of the same rank.
• High card: none of the above; the hand with the highest card wins.

If two hands have the same ranking, the hand with the higher cards wins. A-K-Q is the highest sequence, and in most versions A-2-3 is the second highest.

How a round works online

• Place your bet before the betting time runs out.
• Cards are dealt to the hands on the table.
• The cards are revealed and the hands are compared using the rankings above.
• Winning bets are paid out automatically according to the payout table shown in the game.

Popular variations

You will see several versions of Teen Patti: classic Teen Patti against the dealer, Teen Patti 20-20 with very fast rounds, and versions with side bets such as "Pair Plus", which pays if your hand is a pair or better. Each table shows its own rules, limits and payouts before you bet, so read them when you try a new version.
