How to Play Andar Bahar: Rules, Bets and Payouts

Read this guide in: Roman Urdu · اردو

Andar Bahar is a simple and fast Indian card game played with one deck of 52 cards. There are only two main bets, and a round usually takes less than a minute, which makes it one of the easiest live casino games to learn.

The joker card

Each round starts with one card turned face up in the middle of the table. This card is called the joker (or game card). Only its rank matters: if the joker is a 7, you are waiting for the next 7 to appear.

The two bets: Andar and Bahar

The table has two sides, Andar (inside) and Bahar (outside). You bet on the side where you think a card of the same rank as the joker will land first.

How the cards are dealt

  • After betting closes, the dealer deals cards one at a time, alternating between Andar and Bahar.
  • Dealing continues until a card with the same rank as the joker appears.
  • The side that receives that card wins the round.

Because one side is dealt first, that side has a slightly higher chance of winning, so many tables pay it a little less than even money. Check the payout table at each table before you bet.

Side bets

Many online tables add optional side bets, for example on how many cards will be dealt before the matching card appears. Side bets usually pay more but win less often. They are always optional.
